Mpumalanga: Middelburg

DEKRA Industrial RSA’s Middelburg branch has achieved several significant milestones, including re-establishing its presence on key power generation project sites, and ongoing petrochemical project work under the direction of Branch Manager Johan Loots. The branch has also seen growth in NDT replica services – and leverages DEKRA Industrial RSA’s training division, the DEKRA Institute of Learning (IOL) for in-house training, providing a further strategic advantage in terms of skills development.

Also serving clients in the NDT and inspections call-out sector, including foundries, steel manufacturers, and power stations, the branch maintains strong, personal relationships with its customers. Specialising in conventional and advanced NDT, destructive laboratory testing, failure investigations and more, Middelburg stands out with expertise backed by DEKRA’s global network across over 60 countries.

In line with DEKRA’s global centenary in 2025, the Middelburg branch is reaffirming its commitment to advancing safety in South Africa’s power generation and industrial sectors, contributing to the company’s long-term regional goals within the SEMEA market.

The team operates with a ‘family first’ culture, featuring a passionate commitment to safety, teamwork and excellence. Looking ahead, the branch aims to be the leading NDT, inspections and training provider in Mpumalanga – while aligning with DEKRA Global’s Vision 2025 by prioritising sustainability, community engagement and setting an example for others to follow.

Mpumalanga: Secunda

The Secunda branch has achieved significant milestones recently, marking a period of revitalisation and growth. Overcoming various operational restrictions, the branch successfully reintegrated conventional NDT services for a major petrochemical sector client in 2024. This breakthrough was the result of persistent management and team efforts, and has led to a surge in client interest and inspection requests, demonstrating the branch’s resilience and commitment to service excellence.

Primarily servicing the petrochemical sector, the branch has also established a strong relationship with key clients in sectors such as industrial gas, by consistently delivering professional inspections and timely reporting. With its expanded premises and cohesively co-located with DEKRA Industrial’s training division, the DEKRA Institute of Learning (IOL), enabling a seamless integration of NDT, inspection and training services: a ‘one-stop-shop’ portfolio of DEKRA Industrial RSA’s services.

The Secunda branch also aims to enter the power generation industry, further broadening DEKRA Industrial RSA’s impact in the region.

In 2025, with DEKRA globally celebrating 100 years of global safety expertise, the Secunda branch is well positioned to drive innovation and quality across both local and regional industrial safety programmes.

The team proactively fosters a cohesive environment built on mutual respect and shared goals. Looking ahead, the Secunda branch is committed to client-focused operations, ensuring sustained growth and exceptional service delivery.

Vaal Triangle: Sasolburg

DEKRA Industrial RSA’s Vaal Triangle branch has undergone significant transformation to better serve  clients in the Vaal Triangle region. The recent relocation to Naledi Industrial Park in Sasolburg, led by Branch Manager Donovan Vermeulen, reflects a strategic shift toward offering a unified, client-focused service. These modern facilities bring DEKRA Industrial RSA and its training division, the DEKRA Institute of Learning (IOL) under one roof, enabling a seamless integration of NDT, inspection and training services: a ‘one-stop-shop’ portfolio of DEKRA Industrial RSA’s services.

With DEKRA’s global centenary in 2025, the Vaal Triangle branch continues to expand its footprint, embodying the company’s global commitment to safety, service integration, and operational excellence across the SEMEA region.

Strategically positioned near key clients in the petrochemical, power generation and industrial sectors, the new premises have reduced response times and enhanced service efficiency. This proximity allows the Sasolburg branch to respond quickly to critical situations, saving clients time and money. The expanded facilities have furthermore boosted employee morale, improved service delivery, creating opportunities for local employment with DEKRA Industrial RSA as an employer of choice.

Limpopo: Lephalale (Ellisras)

DEKRA Industrial RSA’s training division, the Institute of Learning’s (IOL) Lephalale branch represents a strategic commitment to fostering safety and sustainability within one of South Africa’s most industrially significant regions. Situated in the heart of Limpopo province, the Lephalale (formerly Ellisras) branch services the mining and power generation sectors, addressing the unique safety challenges faced by these high-risk industries. Officially launched in April 2024, and featuring expanded premises – cohesively co-located with DEKRA Industrial, which offers clients a full range of NDT and inspection-related services – the branch has rapidly established itself as a trusted partner within the local community.

With DEKRA’s global 100th anniversary in 2025, the Lephalale branch embodies DEKRA’s long-standing mission to improve lives through safety, while extending the company’s influence across remote and under-served regions in Africa.

Christopher Mörsner, Head of Training and Consulting at the DEKRA Institute of Learning, highlights the Lephalale branch’s achievements, including surpassing financial targets and becoming the preferred supplier of safety solutions in the region. This success is underpinned by a robust strategy of community investment, which includes employing and developing local talent and aligning services with regional needs.
